Why we built it

Markdown has become the common language of the modern writing and AI workflow. Documentation lives in it, static-site generators consume it, note-taking apps sync it, and large language models read it best. But most of the world’s knowledge is still locked inside binary formats that don’t copy-paste cleanly.

We kept running into the same friction: a PDF report that needed to become a blog post, a slide deck that belonged in a README, a screenshot of text that should have been editable. Existing converters were either cluttered with ads, produced messy output, or quietly held onto your files. We wanted a converter that was fast, respectful of your content, and produced Markdown clean enough to publish without hand-fixing.

What makes it different

• ✓OCR and transcription built in. Images and scanned PDFs are run through a real OCR pipeline so the text inside pictures is extracted, not just wrapped in an image tag.
• ✓Privacy by default. Files are processed in memory and purged within minutes. We don’t permanently store your documents or the converted output.
• ✓Clean, structured output. Headings, tables, and lists come out as proper Markdown — ready for GitHub, Notion, Obsidian, or an LLM prompt.
• ✓Built on open tooling. The conversion pipeline is powered by the open-source MarkItDown ecosystem, extended with our own OCR and cleanup layers.
